ST. PAUL, MN – The Diocese of New Ulm has selected the Catholic Community Foundation (CCF) to provide planned giving services to the nearly 70,000 Catholics and the 78 parishes in the 15-county diocese located in west central Minnesota.

The Most Reverend John C. Nienstedt wrote to CCF president Marilou Eldred, ”I am pleased to indicate, by means of this letter, my agreement to a planned giving relationship between the Diocese of New Ulm and the Catholic Community Foundation.”  According to the letter of agreement, CCF may hold and administer funds for the benefit of the Diocese of New Ulm, its parishes and educational institutions.   CCF will collaborate with parish leaders and diocesan officials to encourage parishioners to leave a legacy of faith to support their favorite Catholic causes.

“We have been working informally with the diocese for several years now and are delighted to take our working relationship to the next level,” said Marilou Eldred.   “The Catholic Community Foundation can offer a variety planned giving tools –  like charitable gift annuities and trusts, as well as endowments and donor advised funds – which allow families to carry out their charitable giving.   We have already set up eight gift annuities benefiting parishes in the diocese and know many others will be interested in similar lifetime income gift arrangements.”

“The working relationship will be beneficial for the Diocese of New Ulm and the Catholic Community Foundation.  The relationship allows us to extend services and expertise that we would be unable to offer on our own,” concluded Bishop Nienstedt.

ABOUT THE CATHOLIC COMMUNITY FOUNDATION:

The Catholic Community Foundation (www.catholiccommunityfoundation.org) is the nation’s largest community foundation serving Catholic philanthropy.  The Foundation was established in 1992 to support financially the spiritual, educational and social needs of the Catholic community in the 12 county area of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.  The Foundation currently manages assets in excess of $182 million and has distributed more than $50 million in grants to the community since inception.

The Foundation works with donors to help them capitalize on the benefits of charitable planned giving, including the ability to reduce their taxes, receive a life income from their gift and leave a legacy for generations to come.  More than 2,200 families have chosen to conduct their philanthropy with the Catholic Community Foundation by setting up donor advised funds, endowments, charitable gift annuities and trusts.
