David E. Fischer

ST. PAUL – David E. Fischer, J.D. has been hired as Senior Gift Planner for the Catholic Community Foundation (CCF), effective August 20, 2007.  Fischer has a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy and Catholic studies from the University of St. Thomas – which he earned while living/studying at St. John Vianney Seminary.  He received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of St. Thomas Law School and has been a member of the Minnesota State Bar since 2006. 

Most recently, Fischer was employed by Hawkins & Associates in Anoka where he served as a city attorney and prosecutor.  He worked as a staff attorney and litigation associate for the League of Minnesota Cities from November 2004 until March 2007.   During law school, he also held temporary and/or internship positions at Gislason & Hunter, LLP in New Ulm, Minnesota, the Alliance Defense Fund – Blackstone Fellow in Scottsdale, Arizona, and with Dorsey & Whitney, LLP in Minneapolis.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree, Fischer also worked for the University of St. Thomas, serving with campus ministry as a residence hall chaplain.  He has also worked with several local non-profit organizations including NET Ministries, St. Paul’s Outreach, and the Minnesota Family Council, where he served in a variety of roles including campus outreach staff, assisting the development office in fundraising/advancement efforts and policy analysis.

As Senior Gift Planner, Fischer will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, educating, and soliciting major current and deferred gifts to build the

endowment funds and agency accounts of the Catholic Community Foundation.

In another personnel move, James R. Seidel, CFPÒ  has been named Vice President of Development and Donor Relations for the Foundation.  Seidel joined CCF in November 2006 as its Director of Development.  Seidel will continue to oversee the Foundation’s efforts to assist donors to achieve their philanthropic goals through planned giving and endowment development.  Fischer will report to Seidel and together they will work closely with individuals, parishes, and other religious and service organizations on behalf of the Foundation.
