With Charitable Lead Trusts, the gifted assets are invested and the trust income is paid to a charity based on a fixed percentage of the underlying assets for a stated number of years. After that period, the assets inside the trust are then distributed. They may be transferred back to you or your heirs. Charitable Lead Trusts offer certain gift tax benefits and can be designed to achieve a number of estate planning and charitable objectives. A minimum $100,000 is required to set up a Charitable Lead Trust. The Catholic Community Foundation will work with you and your attorney or financial advisor to help prepare the necessary documents.
