| | | By giving to the Community Priorities Fund, you will support critical initiatives that are touching lives and making a difference. You’ll also gain the satisfaction of knowing you are giving back to the community that has nurtured you and your family.
Thanks to our generous donors, the Catholic Community Foundation been able to distribute nearly $70 million to support the spiritual, educational and social needs of the Catholic community. However, most of our grants distributions are designated or donor advised. This limits our ability to address new and changing needs in the 12-county area of the Archdiocese. In response, the Foundation has established the Community Priorities Fund.
The Community Priorities Fund provides financial support to non-profit organizations working to address the most pressing needs in our community. Grants from the fund go to non-profits working in support of the three initiatives identified by the Board:
- Young Women and Children
- Back to school programs for young mothers
- Day care support for mothers in school
- Mentoring of Young People
- Programs for at-risk kids
- Tutors for students
- Elderly Living Independently
- Block nurse programs
- Home care services
The Catholic Community Foundation is constantly receiving requests for financial support for many worthwhile endeavors in the community. As Jesus reminds us: “Truly I tell you, in so far as you did it for one of the least of these My brethren, you did it for Me.” (Matthew 25:40)
We invite you to make a donation (of any size) to support the initiatives of the Community Priorities Fund.
Whether it is youth at-risk, the vulnerable elderly, the immigrant trying to fit in, the family struggling to get by, the need is great. Please help shape our community's future while meeting its most urgent needs today
Origin of the fund In 1998, the Catholic Community Foundation (CCF) received its very first will bequest – from the estate of Edward Hugh Kelly. After consultation with Mr. Kelly’s sister Mary, our Board of Directors established the Community Priorities Fund “the earnings of which will be distributed according to current community needs as determined by the Archbishop and the Board of Directors of the Catholic Community Foundation.”
In December of 2000, CCF awarded its first-ever grants from its Community Priorities Fund. A total of $21,000 was distributed to nineteen non-profit agencies. The first grants ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 and were awarded to support activities as far ranging as home healthcare for the elderly in St. Paul; to cross-cultural workforce projects in LeSueur and Rice Counties; to providing assistance for construction of an art studio and theatre for a youth enrichment program in north Minneapolis.
Since that time, the Community Priorities Fund has grown in size – thanks to the generosity of many donors. However, the need is great and our resources are limited. Your generous help is needed.
